Donald Judd: Catalogue Raisonné of Paintings, Objects, and Wood-Blocks 1960-1974

Ottawa, National Gallery of Canada, 1975. A catalogue for Judd's retrospective exhibition at the National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa, 24 May - 6 July 1975, edited by Dudley Del Balso, Brydon Smith and Roberta Smith. First edition. Softcover, orange cover with black lettering, 28 x 22.5 x 4.5 cm, 320 pp. Text in parallel English and French. Profusely illustrated in b/w.

The book functions both as exhibition catalogue (listing 51 exhibited works) and catalogue raisonné. It lists 355 paintings, objects, and wood-blocks made between 1 August 1960, when Judd moved into his studio on West 19th Street, and 1 July 1974, with provenance, exhibition history and bibliography. The bookwork is masterfully designed by Eiko Emori. Front cover shows a closed tear (see pictures), the back cover is dog-eared and has one scratch. Age wear and colour fading on spine and rubbing along the cover-edges. The interior sheets and binding are fine. Scarce, sought-after Donald Judd publication.
