Louis XIV period, probably ca. 1710, front board with centered scene of Christ's resurrection from the grave, back board with centered scene of Christ's ascension to heaven, both scenes in abundantly decorated cartouche with above and below smaller scenes surrounded by lavish decorations, boards with hinged connection by a similarly ornamented back with central scene of Christ on the cross, total size (opened) 14.7 x 17 cm. (boards 14.7 x 7 cm.), with two ornamented clamps.

A few minimal defects such as small dents and a tear along the edges, yet in very good condition. Beautiful and relatively early example of one of the most luxurious book bindings, unclearly marked (?) in inner edge.
