[Book binding] Openworked silver book cover,

by Cornelis Rietveld, silversmith in Schoonhoven from 1865 to 1912, with his maker's mark R above 133, date letter not established (both marks in the spine ends, maker's mark in slightly different form also in the centered scenes on the boards), front board with centered scene of the brother of Joseph showing the latter's cloak to their father Jacob, back board with in that place a scene of Joseph thrown in the well by his brothers, both scenes (as well as the spine) in abundantly ornamented framing, with 2 eyes for a stylus, 8.5 x 14.5 cm. (opened).

Fine cover for a notebook, in heavy quality silver (no silver mark found), probably ca. 1880.
