Sl. waterstained in lower margin, strip of leather on top of spine missing and cardboard visible on corners. Good copy with unidentified engraved ex libris (monogram DR) on inside front cover. Compared to the copy digitalized by Google, our atlas has an additional plate (Paestum) that, according to the caption, should be in there. "Un François" = Joseph Jérôme Le François De La Lande (1732-1807). His travel account of Italy appeared in 1769 in 8 duodecimo volumes, and was reprinted several times. On Wikipedia, articles can be found on the work (Italian) and on the author (French). Contains fine, highly detailed plans, provided with extensive legends, of Turin, Milan, Piacenza, Parma, Modena, Bologna, Florence, Rome, Venice, Brescia, Mantua and Genoa, besides a map of the area between Bologna and Ferrara, a double-paged bird's eye view of the ruins of the Greek temples in Paestum and 4 city views in Rome.
