Album amicorum for Cécile-Rachel-Marie

with ca. 60 sheets of differently coloured paper, partly with blind-stamped border, with (calligraphied) poems, drawings, letters, musical compositions, caricatures, and so on, loosely inserted, pasted, or directly placed on the sheets. Richly decorated and gilded black laquered plates, painted and inlaid with moter of pearl, cloth backing, gilded cuts, 29,5 x 23 cm.

Contributions/album pages with occasional foxing; plates with small defects (cracked lacquer). Contains a.o. a beautiful drawing in pencil of the famous Belgian cellist Adrien François Servais (1807-1866), called, by contemporaries, the "Paganini of the Cello". -and the following contribution: an ode "A Cécile-Rachel-Marie" by "C.O." with richly calligraphied and border raised with gold, dated "18 Décembre 1866"; a pen and ink letter "á Cécile" with poem "Après un Andante" by Diego Gueney (?), dated "21 Novembre 1860", with the same poem written in calligraphy on an album page; various unsigned drawings in black chalk; a sheet music manuscript "Parentelle" by E. Michotte, dated "Hal 7 Dec, 1861"; a drawing in black chalk of wading cows, signed "M. Jansen" (?); a sheet music manuscript "Andante" by Ernst Jonas; a drawing in brush and grey ink of a house on a river-bank, signed "Mr. Delvaux"; an etched picture of a violinist, in the style of Rembrandt; A very fine cutting of a house on a river with sailboat; a letter in verse by "Un jeune Allemand timide H.S." dated "Bruxelles, le 11 juin 1865"
