[In royal binding and with early photographic illustrations] L'École des peuples

Madrid, no publisher, 1853, (printed in Paris, Imprimerie Française et Espagnole de Dubuisson), 2 vols. in one binding, (16),24; 112,16 p., with 2 photographic plates and 2 dedication leafs printed in gold "Aux Augustes Souverains de l'Europe" and to Emperor Napoleon II and Empress Eugénie, bound in splendid morocco with the royal arms of Portugal on both boards and crowns on all corners and in compartments on the spine, silk endpapers. gilt edges, binding signed "Petit succ.r de Simier", 4to.

The upper corners of the boards are slighty dented, else an excellent, desirable copy. Appeared in the series Oeuvres Espagnoles et Françaises du Baron J.-A. de Rostan. Extremely rare work, the French Bibliothèque Nationale only has an incomplete copy with only the French text! It is also interesting for its relatively early use of photographs as illustrations in a book and the dedications in gold print, but of course also for the distinctiveness of this copy.
