Friend album with 27 pages of handwritten contributions dated Neuwied (or Nwd) and Noorthey 1855-1856, in German, English, French and Dutch, original richly gilt morocco, edges gilt, oblong 4to.

On one of the pages are many dozens of signatures, incl. H.W.J. van Tuijll van Serooskerken, J.W.G. de Jonge van Ellemeet, D.A.W. van Tets van Goudriaan, A. Crommelin, P.F. van Beek Vollenhove, W.A.W. Rengers Hora Siccama, J. Buruma Oosting, B.P. van Harinxma Thoe Slooten, C. de Vos van Steenwijk and names which also appear in other places in the album with the individual contributions. Such contributions by M. Wilschman, C. Rückert, F. Nash, H.T. Barth, J.A. Meyrat, J.N. Mispelblom Jeyer, Jean Alstorphius van Hemert, R. Laing, R. Theobald Merian, C.E. Epplen, J. Brindeau, Anaud de Heus, Ernst Wilhelm Croger, L.E. van Pallandt, J.H. Kramers, D. Bicker Jr., A. Lycklama à Nyegolt, W.G. van Krieken, A. van Hoboken and others. With: 1 similar, slightly later friend album and a "Muziek-Album" with 13 pages handwritten sheet music, with dedication in pen on endpaper to Anna, Nelly and Margo de Lange by three members of the Schuurman family, with their photographic portraits on the reverse. A later pencil note explains that the music album was presented at the departure of the De Lange family from Batavia to the Netherlands with the steamship Coromandel (1873) (defects). (total 3)
