First edition. Folio, leather, title in red and gilt stamping, marbled endpapers, illus. frontispiece, title in red and black with vignette, (28), 340, (43) p., portrait Georg Everhard Rumphius (1627 - Ambon 1702), complete with 60 copperplates. Rumphius was a German soldier, architect, geographer and merchant; however, he is mostly known for his work as a botanist. He stayed on Ambon for 49 years. Binding with minimal signs of use, the copperplates in strong prints, ex libris. Very good copy. Scarce.
