[P. Rabus] De Boekzaal van Europe

Ontsloten met de Maanden Julius en Augustus 1692 - Gesticht door P. Rabus. November en December 1698. Rotterdam, P. van der Slaart, 1692-1698, 24 (of 57) issues in 8 (of 19) volumes, each volume with ca. 600 pages, contemporary uniform calf with ribbed, gilt back, small 8vo.

Bookblocks here and there small defects (such as small wormholes, stains etc.); bindings lacking morocco title shield and partly trifle damaged on spine extremities and corners of boards. Rare bimonthly magazine, the first science magazine in Dutch. Even single issues rarely appear, such large series even appear on the market only sporadically. The important magazine was continued for a century under different names. According to Picarta, complete sets of our edition have to exist from the years July-December 1692 to November-December 1701. Our series consists of the complete 1692 (so one volume, the binder mistakenly listed "II" on the spine), 1697 and 1698 volumes and furthermore from the second half of the 1693 and 1696 volumes and the first half of the 1694 volume.
