Albert Schweitzer (1875 - Lambaréné 1965). Collection of 13 original letters

and 4 picture postcards, and another 16 letters and picture postcards by his secretary Emmy Martin (several with short salutation or postcard by Schweitzer himself) and 1 letter by Helene Schweitzer, all addressed to Mademoiselle Marg. de Rouville and related to the hospital in Lambaréné (Gabon), dated 5/6/27 to 22/6/51, all but a few with postmarked and stamped envelope (also many picture postcards) with address 29 avenue major Vautier, Clarens (Switzerland), with an additional 11 photos mostly related to Lambaréné with short explanation on reverse (1927-1928).

Letters addressed to a benefactor of Schweitzer, in which she is extensively thanked for her generous donations. The letters discuss the work at Schweitzer's hospital in Lambaréné, the philosophy of Schweitzer (and of Marie Jaëll), his health, his concerts and lectures. Among the photos (mostly with natives) a lovely image of the transportation of Schweitzer’s piano by means of canoe (1927) and Schweitzer feeding the baby monkey Fifi (1927).
