[Henry Miller (1891-1980)] Eve Miller. Typed letter to "Dear Henry Braakenburg",

dated "9-16-55 Big Sur" and signed "Our warm greetings to you [in pen:] Eve Miller", on recto of 1 sheet of blue airmail paper of 30.5 x 18.3 cm., self-folding into envelope with the address of Henry Braakenburg on reverse (Sarphatistraat 2-A, Amsterdam) and the typed address of sender Henry Miller, post-paid and stamped 16 September 1955 (sunned stripes, perforation holes in left-hand margin).

In 1953 Henry Miller married the artist Eve McClure, 37 years his junior, whom he divorced in 1960. In this letter she mentions taking care of Henry Miller's correspondence: "Dear Henry Braakenburg; forgive that I am answering your letter instead of Henry, but I'm once again attempting to take over what I can of the correspondence.. leaving him free to write. No... one cannot import erotic books into America! Henry says he most certainly has not changed his views upon America (in reference to The Air Conditioned Nightmare). Also, he says no, that he hasn't read the Harris book you mention, and adds that he doesn't want to either!" With: a similar letter on airmail paper by the same and to the same, dated "June 12/1958 Big Sur California" and a third letter on regular paper by the same and to the same (with envelope), dated "Nov. 14/58 Big Sur California U.S.A.", both letters referring to erotic books banned in America. Finally another 6 small publications related to the work of Henry Miller. (total 3 letters and 6 other items, all with perforation holes in margin)
