Opvs Merlini Cocaii Poetae Mantuani Macaronicorum.

Totum in pristinam formam per me Acquarium Lodolam optime redactum, in his infra notatis titulis divisum. Venice, (N.) Bevilacquam, 1613, 541,(1 blank),(7) p., with woodcut printer's mark on the title page and 27 (partly repeated) woodcut illustrations, early 19th-century marbled sheepskin, gilt back with morocco letterpiece, large 12mo.

Here and there slightly browned/ foxed and with old annotation on the free endpaper, yet a good copy with the heraldic ex libris of the Ghent bibliophile Théodore de Valenzi (1813-1855) on inside front board. Merlinus Cocaius, pseudonym of Teofilo Folengo (1491-1544), was one of the foremost poets of the Italian macaronic poetry. See extensively on this poet: https://tinyurl.com/mqvqmb5. The first edition of the series of 4 parodying pieces appeared also in Venice, in 1517.
