Two works in French in 6 volumes: (1) Histoire de Gil Blas de Santillane, Par Lesage.

Édition ornée de Figures en taille-douce, gravées par les meilleurs Artistes de Paris. Paris, printed by Didot Jeune for Janet and for Hubert, l'an troisième (1795), 4 volumes, 398; 333,(1); 382; 368 p., with 100 engraved plates (25 plates per volume incl. the frontispieces), mostly by J.J. Hubert, contemporary uniform half morocco with gilt back, marbled edges.

Volumes 3 and 4 in several places waterstained, all bindings with light traces of use. Lovely set. The famous work by Alain René Lesage (1668-1747) was originally published in parts between 1715 and 1735, after which a book edition appeared in 1747. The engraver J.J. Hubert, co-publisher of our edition, provided the illustrations engraved after C. Bornet, F.P. Charpentier and Duplessi-Bertaux. With: (2) Les Aventures de Télémaque, par Mr. de Fénélon, Paris, L. Duprat-Duverger, 1811, 2 volumes, with engravings, contemporary uniform half calf with contrasting letterpieces (second volume waterstained) (total 2 works in 6 volumes).
