[Education] Lot with 4 works: (1) De opvoedinge der meisjes,

van den heer Francois de Salignac de la Motthe Fenelon (...) Als meede Onderwys voor eene jonge prinsesse, van den heer De La Chetardye; uit het Fransch vertaald, en voorzien met Eene voorreden, over de genoeggelykste en gemakkelykste manier, om jonge Dogters tot het huysbestier bequaam te maken, van Josua van Iperen. Amsterdam, J. Wessing Willemsz., 1771, (4),LII,212,(2) p., with engraved frontispiece by S. Fokke, contemporary marbled calf with gilt, ribbed back.

Lacks small piece of free endpaper, binding with minor defects. Very rare first Dutch edition, the first (French) edition appeared in Paris in 1687 titled Éducation des Filles. The work of De la Chetardye was also often added to the French editions, e.g. with the Amsterdam/ Leipzig edition, 1758. Translator Josua van Iperen (1726-1780) was vicar at Veere and is mostly known for his various occasional publications; (2) Réflexions sur l'Éducation de la jeunesse, sur tout aux Pays Bas Autrichiens, tirées en grande partie des meilleurs auteurs [by Derleyn]. Liège, no publisher, 1788, 44 p., contemporary cordbound wrapper, 12mo. Rare, with in pen on title page: "Par M. Derlin, préfet du college royal de Bruxelles" and above the place of publishing "(à Bruxelles)"; (3) Anecdotes et remarques sur l'Éducation publique par Fis. Cde. Le Roy de Lozembrune (...). Mannheim, M. Fontaine, 1783, (2),206 p., slightly later half calf with gilt back (minimal defects, with heraldic ex libris of the Dukes of Aremberg on inside endpaper). And with 1 more (total 4).
