Two titles: (1) Den vermakelyken avanturier,

ofte De Wispelturige, en niet min Wonderlyke Levens-Loop van Mirandor, Behelsende verscheide Kluchtige en vermakelyke Bejegeningen (...) aangename amourettes ofte Vryeryen (...). Door N.H. [Nicolaas Heinsius de Jongere], De Vyfde Druk (...). Amsterdam, A, Schoonenberg, 1722, 2 parts in one volume, 358,(2); 376 p., with engraved frontispiece by J. Goeree and 12 engraved plates after Caspar Luiken, contemporary vellum.

Endpapers at back board renewed, top hinge slightly vulnerable on inside and vellum on spine with vertical tear. Still an acceptable copy with faded owner's mark of Adriaen Kleijn (?) dated 1754 on endpaper, old owner's names on inside back board and the ex libris of Albert Verwey on inside front board. The first edition appeared in 1695. The author, Nicolaas Heinsius (1656-1718) was the grandson of the famous humanist Daniel Heinsius. After studying medicine he was forced to flee the country due to his involvement with murder. After a life of adventures abroad, he settled in the "free city" of Culemborg; (2) De beedelende edelman, of de Edelmoedige beedelaar (...) door hemzelven [= Nicolaas Hoefnagel] beschreven. Amsterdam, S. van Esveldt, n.d. (1768), 320 p., with 15 (of 16) engraved plates, contemporary cardboard. Poor copy, lacks plate 3 and various text pages and also else not fine (sold w.a.f.) (total 2).
