Nicolaas Beets (13 September 1814-1903). Letter in pen and ink,

dated "Utrecht, 31 Juli 1900", addressed to "Lieve Mary" [Mackay] [= Marie Corelli], bifolium with only the first page written, elegantly monogrammed "NB", 18 x 11.5 cm. (waterstained in top edge), pasted in a very poor copy of the 20th edition of the Camera Obscura (1900) in original cloth (heavily waterstained on inside and outside), with on the free endpaper the dedication "Voor Mary Mackay van Hildebrand, 1 Aug. 1900".
