Ghent, J. vanden Kerchove, 1649, (36),470,(5) p., with woodcut vignettes, contemporary overlapping vellum, 12mo.

Small hole in leaf A9; endpapers renewed in the 19th century (top free endpaper tender). Vellum split on top hinge. Very rare Dutch edition, only a handful of copies in libraries worldwide. The book by Jean de Cartigy (ca. 1520-1578) first appeared in Antwerp, 1557 and was translated into English and Germany already in the 16th century. The similarity between the work and Don Quichot does not end with the title: this knight, too, is enraptured by written travel stories.
