[Groote Victorie der Stad Wesel]

Eben-ezer, tot hier toe heeft ons de Heere gheholpen : waer voor wy schuldigh zijn, dancksegginge van weghen, de groote victorie, over de vermaerde stadt Wesel : welcke God almachtich (uyt sijne grondeloose barmherticheydt) dese landen, toeghesonden heeft, op den 19. augusti anno 1629 gedaen, door Daniel Souterius, predicant in de gemeynte Christi, tot Haerlem. Hans Passchiers van Wesbusch. Haarlem. 1630.

Small 4to, half leather with marbled boards, title on spine in gilt stamping, rebound in 19th-century binding, new endpapers. Slightly damaged illustrated frontispiece pasted, title with large oval vignette, 4 head-/ tailpieces and various capitals in woodcut. Minor (finger)staining, else a good copy. The capture or surprise of Wesel was the very quick capture of the city of Wesel by the Dutch States Party on 19 August 1629 during the Eighty Years' War. The capture took place during the grand Siege of Den Bosch and eventually contributed to the victory on the Spaniards there.
