[Chinese export gouaches on "pith" paper] Series of 49 gouaches on pith paper,
ca. 1850, from 8 x 9 to 13 x 10 cm. to 14 x 11 cm., with subjects such as corporal punishment (4x), elegant ladies (8x), men with attributes (11x), shells (3x), flowers (4x), fish (3x), ships (5x, incl. one with blind stamp) and butterflies and insects/ crustaceans (11x), mostly double-sided pasted on 28 leaves in half morocco album, all edges gilt, 4to.
Several album leaves loose and with small tears, here and there foxed, in several places the colours have slightly rubbed off on the facing drawing. Lovely collection, the fragile leaves very well preserved due to the pasting. With the fish and shells, glitter powder has been used for a touch of realism. The album also contains on 4 leaves a series of 7 pasted cards of 7 x 10 cm., on which have been painted birds (5x) and ladies finished with real coloured bird feathers (total 56 in album).
