Mieko Shiomi, Spatial Poems ephemera, 1965-1975

Starting in 1965, Shiomi conducted a series of nine events that she called Spatial Poems. Each one began with an invitation to a large number of friends and colleagues to respond to a simple instruction. The responses she received in the mail would then constitute the work. Included is a complete set of invitation and instruction letters as sent to Tjeerd Deelstra, of various sizes and colour paper.

Contains: No.1 Word Event (1965) plus envelope; No.2 Direction Event (1965); No.3 Falling Event (1966); No.4 Shadow Event (1972); No.5 Open Event (1972); No.6 Orbit Event (1973) plus envelope; No.7 Sound Event (1974); No.8 Wind Event (1974) plus envelope; No.9 Disappearing Event (1975). Additional letters constitute: note announcing the end of the Spatial Poems project. In envelope + list of the participants in Spatial Poems 1-4.
