Johannes Jelgerhuis (1770-1836) (after). (The Amsterdam apothecary of Anthony d'Ailly)

Oil on canvas mounted on board, 42 x 52 cm, on a stretcher without frame.

A few scratches and some damage to the paint in lower margin; the painting is in desperate need of cleaning to get the original light and colours back. Copy in exactly the same size after (or study for?) the painting of 1818 in the collection of the Rijksmuseum (apparently on loan to and exhibited at the Museum Boerhaave, Leiden). That painting is signed and dated 1818 on a ceiling beam, apparently no traces of a signature can be found on our picture.
