[M.C. Escher] Halcyon. Driemaandelijksch Tijdschrift voor Boek-, Druk- en Prentkunst

The Hague, A.A.M. Stols, 1940-1942, 12 parts in 9 portfolios, many loose contributions by M.C. Escher, Buckland Wright, E. de la Fontaine Verwey, S.H. de Roos, A.A.M. Stols, D. Dooijes and others, folio in library bindings. A near-complete series of "het mooiste typografische tijdschrift ooit in ons land gemaakt", including the 4 woodcuts by M.C. Escher, of which the title woodcut and Spinrag are intact, "De Sprinkhaan" (23 x 5 mm.) with small perforation stamp "G.O.L.B.S." in left plane and part of the stamp of the municipal library (40 x 7 mm.) has hit the dung beetles.

Used library copy in which the stamp of the Gem. openbare leeszaal Schiedam has been overzealously used (on nearly each contribution and title page) as well as perforation stamp G.O.L.B.S. Poor set, (too) tightly bound, but complete with the woodcuts by Escher.
