Acceptable copy with a lovely provenance: ex bibliotheca Victor Emmanuel III, (1869-1947), king of Italy from 1900 to 1946. With his bookplate on first free endpaper "Proprietá privata di sua maestà il re Vittorio Emanuele III" and with his stamp (large crowned E) on front wrapper and on p. 21. Cordier, Japonica 661. First and only edition of Alexis de Gabriac's account of travels in India, China and Japan. The final chapter deals with North America, with visits to San Francisco, Chicago and New York.
