[Emblemata] Fabelen en kleine gedichten voor kinderen, door Pieter 't Hoen.

Met kunstplaaten. Amsterdam, J. de Ruijter, 1803, X,5-182 p., with engraved title and 48 plates mostly by A. Hulk Jacobsz after A. Hulk Pietersz. et al., later halfcloth, small 8vo (minor defects).

Collation per the KB copy. Of this finely illustrated fable book at least two variants exist with different typesetting, both with exactly the same engraved title page (so also Amsterdam, J. de Ruijter, 1803): one with only 170 p. and one also with 182 p., yet without any engraved inscriptions and artist's signatures with the pictures. The latter variant is presumably the real first edition. A later edition by De Ruijter from 1815 and a title edition by Schalekamp and Van de Grampel from 1822 both also contain 170 p. with the same typesetting as the former variant, which possibly means that our edition is the first with inscriptions with the pictures. The foreword to "Lieve jeugd!" speaks of "vijftig printjens", yet all complete copies found have a title engraving and 48 plates, with only three of four seasons found in pictures (Summer is not included).
