[Gordon Matta-Clark. With letter to Dorine Mignot] Splitting. By Gordon Matta-Clark.

New York, 98 Greene Street Loft Press, 1974, (32) p., with 5 pages with very brief texts, remainder with photos and photomontage, folding photo mounted to inside back cover, oblong, 18 x 28.2 cm.

With inlaid in photocopy: letter by Wayne Harrison of Art Performances to "Doreen [Dorine] Miniot", Stedelijk Museum, dated 8/17/78: "... Enclosed you will find the copies of "Splitting" and "Walls Paper" you requested (...). Also enclosed is a letter from Gordon. I think some of the things you have inquired about will be answered by it. He agrees that the "leftover" piece should be omitted from the show". The interesting letter by Matta-Clark to which Harrison refers is also present (in photocopy, possibly as sent), two sides beginning with "Dear Dorine" and at the end "Love Gordon". The work Splitting by Gordon Matta-Clark (1943-1978) contains a photoreport of a legendary project, in which the abandoned house at 322 Humphrey Street in Englewood, New Jersey is completely sawed in half with a chainsaw.
