Correspondence David Mayor, 1971-1973

Ten letters sent by David Mayor to Tjeerd Deelstra. Starting with a formal letter as the associate director of Fluxus West England in December 1971 (asking for an exhibition loan), to a warm interchange of ideas for collaborative Fluxus endeavors. Correspondence shows that David arranged boarding for Tjeerd and his wife Ut when they went to the legendary Ices 72 event (the key and instructions on how to find the house were enclosed in a letter). He also mediated in the aquisition of works by Brecht from the Anna Lovell collection. Mayor and Deelstra visited Fluxus archivist icon Hans Sohm together and devised plans for a Dutch Schmuck (not realized).

+ Collection of correspondence and documents pertaining to Fluxshoe. Notably Fluxus Information I and several drafts by David Mayor, a press release on signature Fluxshoe stationary and a yellow flyer. + Beau Geste Press promotional sheets. David Mayor was co-founder of the legendary publishing home Beau Geste Press, set up Fluxus England and organized the travelling Fluxshoe exhibition in the early 70s. He is currently engaged in a research and performance programme with Aiste Noreikaite. Mayor's extensive archive is housed at Tate London.
