[Fore-edge painting. Two vols.] A picturesque tour through Holland, Brabant

and part of France; made in the Autumn of 1789 by Samuel Ireland. Illustrated with Copper Plates in Aqua Tinta from Drawings made on the spot by Samuel Ireland. First/ second printing. London, R. Faulder etc., 1790/ 1796 (part 2 in 2nd printing), 2 vols., XX,217; IV,211 p., with 2 engraved titles with aquatint illustrations, 48 aquatint plates with (all but a few) cityscapes and profiles (incl. one plate not mentioned in the plate index), several woodcut illustrations, contemporary uniform grained red morocco, all edges gilt and both vols. with different fore-edge painting, 4to.

Both vols. with mild foxing as usual. Both bindings with bumped corners and leather sl. rubbed on spines/ along edges. Each vol. with engraved bookplate with central monogram "HB" (?). The beautiful fore-edge paintings both depict a different building in a park-like environment.
