Zushi
Travel altar in accompanying black lacquer double-hinged chest, Japan, Edo period. Altar of 5 detachable components: foot; intermediate ring; temple lion with lotus; Buddha; back wall with sun symbol. In sandalwood, mostly gilded. Altar height 88 cm. Chest: 112 x 32 x 40 cm.
Some small damage to cartouche of foot and tips of some of the fingers. Right door of chest loose at hinges.
