[Nuremburg trials. Seyss-Inquart] "Official Transcript of the International Tribunal

in the matter of the United States of America, the French Republic, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics against Hermann Wilhelm Goering, et al, Defendants sitting at Nurnberg, Germany on 10 June 1846, 1000-1700, Lord Justice Lawrence presiding." Stencilled typescript document, 39 lvs. printed on one side only, paginated 11337 to 11375, the lvs. also coded in top margin with codes such as "10 June-M-IM-1-1-Daniels" (also occurring are the names Williams, Price, Bubley, Ahuna and Murtha), stapled in upper left corner.

Occas. sl. frayed and partly dog-eared, first and final leaf loose. Provenance: "Arie C. de Gooyer, war correspondent Nüremberg 1946." This is the owner's entry in a pocket bible preserved together with the typescript. The document was kept by the De Gooyer family up until now. Arie C. de Gooijer (1909-1992) was a journalist for Utrechts Dagblad, De Standaard (up to 1944, when it was banned) and especially Trouw. He was the brother of Dutch actor Rijk de Gooijer. The typescript is a highly interesting original document, with a direct examination in the forms of questions and answers, stopping abruptly at the final page (incomplete). The questions are posed by Dr. Steinbauer (with the use of several exhibits) and answered by Arthur Seyss-Inquart, starting with biographical data. Part of the testimony is about a conversation with Hitler. There is a interesting dispute about notes that had supposedly been made by Seyss-Inquart on that occasion, but are now missing. "The president: Do you know who the interrogating counsel was? Witness: Mr. Dodd himself. Mr. Dodd: We don't have it. (...). Witness: May I say that I did produce the black briefcase, and the notes were in it, and during a subsequent interrogation I took a copy and showed it". A large part of the document concerns Seyss-Inquart's role in the Anschluss and his function as chancellor afterwards.
