[Tigers. Circus Hagenbeck] "Tiger jumping through a hoop"

Depicting a tamer or ringmaster training tigers that are surrounded by "wild" tigers and indigenous people riding an elephant. Friedländer, Hamburg, 1929. In 4 loose parts, 96 x 71 cm each. Lith. no. 8432.

Folded. *The Hagenbeck family consisted of Carl and Wilhelm who both managed their own circus. Carl later became particularly known as the founder of the modern day zoos with more natural enclosures for the animals, but also for the 'human zoos' exhibiting 'purely natural' populations such as the Nubians, Inuit, and other indigenous people.
