Jean Tinguely, original Meta matic drawing, 1973
Original signed felt tip drawing. Brown, blue and light green marker on thick beige paper, 24 x 18.5 cm, numbered 60/100 and signed '& Tinguely' on recto in pencil. Verso features an address stamp by the Stedelijk Museum and the hand added date 21 9 73. Small hardly noticeable stain in lower right corner (mostly apparent at verso), else in fine condition.
The Meta matic drawings were produced by an automated drawing device designed by Tinguely for his 1973 exhibition at the Stedelijk Museum. This copy was made by the Beeren family and Tinguely's do-it-yourself drawing machine. Wim Beeren was curator of the Stedelijk from the mid 60s to early 70s and headed the museum from 1985 to 2000.
