MacDonald was a pioneering Scottish fantasy writer, he was both a friend of and mentor to Lewis Caroll as well as friends w. Mark Twain. His stories and novels had a profound influence on fantasy and nonsense literature writers such as Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, Lord Dunsany, Robert Hugh Benson and Ray Bradbury. Very rare.
