Treaty of Armed Neutrality Medal

Silver, 31 mm, 1781, by J.M. Lageman. A sailor, wearing a crown and holding a rudder topped by a lion, leaning against a column. At the top of the column is the hat of the Netherlands, at the base an anchor, and hanging from the column are three shields, which represent Sweden, Denmark and Russia. In the distance behind the sailor two ships sail away. Reverse w. 6 lines of text and date, 1 Jan. 1781. Medal commemorating Russia, Denmark, Sweden, and Holland's pledge to aid the American Colonies against the British in the Treaty of Armed Neutrality.
