Archive of/ on Karel Johannes Julianus "Lotsy" Lotsij (1893-1959)

Archive containing photographs, awards, pedigrees, letters, obituaries, shares etc., kept in cl. portfolio w. gilt coat of arms of K.J.J. Lotsy on front cover. Comprises a.o.: (1) Portrait of Lotsy in black chalk by B. van Vlijmen, dated 1928. (2-3) Two printed awards, filled out in pen to Lotsy, for Sport in Beeld, Concours de Carosserie, Concours d'Elegance, held in Zandvoort, August 7, 1926. (4) Printed inauguration filled out in pen and w. wax seal, introducing Lotsy as a new member of the Wageningsch Studentencorps, dated 5 Februari 1917 (w. defects). (5) Photogr. portrait of Lotsy by N. Drakulic (Soerabaia). (6) Letter in pen by Lotsy, addressed to "Zeer Geachte Heer Adriaanse", dated Dordrecht, 18/ 8 1945, on paper w. letterhead of the Nederlandsche Voetbalbond, but w. annotation "Privé" in pen.

Portfolio split on spine. Interesting archive. *Lotsy was an important Dutch sports manager. He became coach of the Haarlemsche Football Club (H.F.C.) in 1921, around which time he developed a special mental concentration technique for which he became famous. He also became manager of the K.N.V.B., and he was chef-de-mission for the Dutch team at the Olympic games of 1936, 1948 and 1952. He was later criticized for his role during WWII.
