*In this text, Huges claims that trepanning - drilling a hole in one's skull - will have a positive (i.e. mind-expanding) effect on the brain due to an improved balance of bodily fluids in the brain and the spinal cord. On 6 January 1965 he famously drilled a hole in his own forehead, an act that brought him instant notoriety.
