[Marionettes] Lot of 42 Eastern European and Italian rod puppets

(1) Set of ten Eastern European rod puppets. Czechoslovakia or Poland, ca. 1950 - 1970. Hand-painted wooden rod puppets with simplified features and stylized limbs, dressed in folk costumes or theatrical garments. Incl. archetypes such as the devil, witch and peasant couple. Original wire suspension hooks and string present. Each approx. 18 cm. (2) Italian Commedia dell'Árte Puppets, 1940 - 1950. Group of 11 painted composition or papier mache puppets. Incl. masked figures, 18th century dress and a knight in armour. With original hanging hooks.

Added: 22 rod puppets, 20th cent. All showing signs of regular age and wear. (total 42)
