Cont. calf w. gilt and ribbed spine, large folio. Several plates waterst. in lower margin/ lower inner corner; occas. foxed/ a bit browned. Leather over joints split/ dam. and lacking at spine-ends, outer corners and edges of covers worn. Occas. other sm. internal and external imperfections.

Atlas of the battles and sieges in the Southern (Spanish) Netherlands during the War of the Spanish Succession (1701-1714). Published by the bookseller and printer Eugène Henri Fricx who was "one of the most important map publishers of the Southern Netherlands in the 18th c" (Koeman). The first 24 Covens & Mortier maps (to which only Fricx's name was added) form a topographical map of the Southern Netherlands, the other maps being for the greater part engraved by J. Harrewijn.
