The Paris Commune marked the first instance of working class-rule and emerged shortly after the end of the Franco-Prussian War, lasting from March 28th to May 28th, 1871. The uprising led to widespread destruction and was one of the first photographed major events in Paris. This rare album documents the destruction, some still show the Commune election banners and posters on the buildings.
