Entirely engraved: title, index, general map and 24 plans of fortifictions and their surroundings, incl. handcol. lines of attack, cont. hcalf, gilt and ribbed spine w. mor. letterpiece. Obl. folio. Rebacked, using the orig. backstrip. Title slightly browned, a few stains (incl. one on the table); first free endpaper nearly loose. Spine-ends chipped and outer corners bumped; paper over boards darkened near spine and corners (offsetting from leather underneath).

Series of maps illustrating the sieges of Flemish towns during the War of the Austrian Succession (1740-1748). Very rare edition of the plates only, in unfolded state. Our engr. title-p. is sometimes found as frontispiece for the edition with text by Melchior Pauschinger, 1750.
