Waterst. to the upper outer blank corner in the second half, extending into the lower and outer blank margins towards the end (increasing progressively), foxing almost throughout (mostly in blank margins, occas. affecting images). Spine-ends chipped, joints starting to split. In all, a good copy of the plate vol. only, without the text.
Nissen, ZBI 257: "The plates were produced by a mixed process of photographic transposing on to a metal plate (heliography) followed by handwork of various kinds - soft-ground etching, mezzotint and aquatint, the background tint being achieved by lithography".
