Finely hand-col., w. protective film. 24.5 x 16 cm. All plates originally from Charles D’Orbigny’s Dictionnaire Universel d’Histoire Naturelle (ca. 1849). The entire work consisted of 288 engravings of flowers, birds, mammals, insects, fish, and shells. The work is considered one of the most important natural history collections of that time featuring detailed illustrated natural history plates.
