Jode (I), P. de (1570-1634). The last judgement
Engravings 8 and 9 from a series of 12 that were meant to be joined to one very large scene. Each print approx. 47.5 x 48 cm, after Jean Cousin (II) (ca. 1522- ca. 1594), 1615, one w. approbation by Laurentius Beyerlinck in the plate, both mounted at upper corner under passe-partout. Good impression with good margins, printed on toned heavy laid paper. Both w. sm. closed marg. tears, one w. uneven r. margin. Very good copies, especially for such large prints. Hollstein De Jode 83, almost certainly the edition by Pierre Drevet (1663-1738), Paris, ca. 1730. These two prints form the two lower right prints of the entire composition, showing scenes that illustrate the consequences of wrong choices in life.
