Woodcut, 24.4 x 18.3 cm, from a series of 4 woodcuts dep. the story of the prodigal son after Maarten van Heemskerck (1498-1574), monogrammed "MVH" (intertwined) in the block, tipped onto old mount at upper left margin, under modern passe-partout. Printed on laid paper w. gothic P and a rather narrow construction, trimmed to the borderline, sm. closed tear in lower margin. New Hollstein 359. Very rare woodcut.
