Complete set of 4 engravings, all 19 x 24.5 cm., numb. 1-4, after Maarten van Heemskerck (1498-1574), the first signed "Herman Muller fecit" and "M. Martinus Heemskerck inventor", w. address "CJVisscher excudit", the others w. the monogram of Muller and signed "MHeemskerck in." or similar, all w. 1-line Latin text below the image, mounted at upper corners under passepartouts. The first print in sl. greyish impression, w. 3 good margins and lower margin trimmed on the plate mark (remargined), the others all good impressions on paper w. a.o. watermark Cross of Lorraine, 2 and 3 w. wide margins, 4 w. var. margins (remargined at top). Second print waterst. and partly frayed/ w. small (closed) tears, 3rd print w. old annotation in upper blank margin and collector's stamp Ex Bibl. Regia Berolin. (not in Lugt) in lower r. corner (affecting the image). New Hollstein (Van Heemskerck) 139-142 and New Hollstein (Muller) 29-32, the first and final print in 2nd state, the others in 1st state (of 2). -and 6 others by and after the same, incl. the 2nd print from the series above, in 2nd state.
