Late 19th/early 20th cent., all 8.5 x 10.5 cm, all w. the address of "H. Tsurubuchi, Namikicho, Asakusa, Tokio, Japan" in gold and mounted letterpress paper strip verso indicating the specific scenes. Kept in orig. wooden box measuring 12.5 x 10.5 x 10 cm. Fine collection of scenes, 19 of them reproductions after col. drawings, five are orig. photographs. The Meiji government commissioned Tsurubuchi Hatsuzo to create educational magic-lantern projectors and slides to teach about constitutional reforms and
civic responsibilities in the new era.
