*The extensive oeuvre of Piet Wijn includes work for the Toonder studios, Puk and Poppedijn, Aram, various comics for Tina, individual story illustrations in Donald Duck, and much more. His most celebrated comic was "Douwe Dabbert," of which 22 albums were published. He is widely regarded as one of the best-known and most talented Dutch comic artists. Large-format autonomous drawings such as the present example are scarce and seldom encountered on the market. This drawing was published as a double-page spread in Tina Winterboek, 1982 and again in the 1990s, after having been selected by the artist himself for use as a privately issued Christmas card for friends and relatives.
