Photographs of the following figures: (1) Théophile Ferré (1846-1871), an important figure in the Paris Commune, who authorized the executions of the archbishop of Paris and five other hostages; he was later executed for his role in the Commune. (2) Adolphe Assi (1841-1886), an Italian-born colonel in the French army who joined Garibaldi's volunteers' legion and later became an important figure in the Paris Commune. (3) Edouard Moreau (1838-1871), an important figure in the Paris Commune, who was executed after his capture during the fights in the Semaine saglante. (4) An unidentified artillery officer.
