Ben Vautier. Originals drawings for A Little Book of Ben

(1-4) Four blue pen drawings on white sheet, each in cardboard passe-partout, 14.6 x 19.8 cm. Original samples (printed in the exact size) for 'A Little Book of Ben', published by Reflection Press in 1970. The deluxe version of the book is included in this lot. Drawings include 'Wann ich male dann ist es für meine Ehre', 'Gott ist da', 'Ich liebe mädchen', and 'Anonyme Kunst ist unmöglich ich bin ein hypokrit'. Moderate spotting to the paper and cardboard. Amazing document from the collection of Johanna and Dr. Albert Schiessel, gallerists and publishers in Freiburg at the time.

(5) A little Book of Ben. Stuttgart, Reflection Press, 1970. Flug/flux BLATTzeitung/ Future Culture No. 14. Stapled booklet, 15 x 22 cm, 26 pp, housed in blue linen portfolio with hand-stamped bright orange title label. Deluxe version, from a limited edition of 25 copies, signed and numbered 11/25 in black marker, with handwritten text 'Ben is the Best'. Comprises stencilled text and drawings by Ben Vautier, printed in various colours on brown packing paper and white sheets. A Little Book of Ben was issued in two versions by Reflection Press: the above version (in both deluxe and regular copies) and a reduced b/w format, 14.4 x 10.5 cm, 32 pp. The latter was released in conjunction with the Happening & Fluxus exhibition at the Kunstverein, Cologne. It contains a selection of drawings from the above publication, accompanied by photographic images of the exhibition. (total 5)
