Binding loosening, joints splitting. The author, who was an English clergyman, artist, musician and composer, was a member of the Moravian Church and visited the Cape in 1815 to visit two Moravian missionary settlements in order to make an "arrangement with the Government of the Colony regarding the security of the Missionary Settlements" and in order to find a suitable location for a third settlement for the United Brethren. This work, first published in 1818, is based on the notes that Latrobe made during his journey for his family and friends. Gay 3117; Mendelssohn I, p.867f; cf. Kainbacher I, p.83.
