Interfunktionen. Nos. 3-12

Cologne, Interfunktionen Verlag, 1969-1975. Legendary avant-garde art magazine founded and edited by Friedrich Heubach (Nos. 1-10), and by Benjamin Buchloh starting with No. 11. Twelve issues were published between 1968 and 1975. This set includes 10 volumes, Nos. 3-12. Softcovers, 21 x 15 (Nos. 9 and 10), all other issues 29.7 x 22 cm. Print run of 1000 except for No. 3, which has an edition of 500. A special edition of 50 copies was released with signed original works, this is the regular edition. No. 11 with some spine toning and creasing, the set is in good condition.

The magazine was created in response to the conservative programming of Documenta 4 (1968), focusing on the experimental scene around conceptual art and Fluxus, presenting documentation alongside artists' contributions. Beuys is frequently featured and some themes recur across issues, incl. Land Art / Earth Art, and Body Art. Nos. 11 and 12 show an amazing artists' intervention by Daniel Buren. Special contributions were made by Panamarenko (Das Flugzeug, printed on acetate in No. 4), and Sigmar Polke (small original contribution in No. 9). Further contributors include Vito Acconci, John Baldessari, Josef Beuys, Marcel Broodthaers, Günter Brus, Daniel Buren, Jan Dibbets, Valie Export, Gilbert and George, Dan Graham, Hans Haacke, David Lamelas, Richard Long, Bruce Nauman, Dennis Oppenheim, Yvonne Rainer, Dieter Roth, Robert Smithson, Wolf Vostell, Lawrence Weiner, and many others.
